DIY : Mason Jar Memories

Salam and hello everyone!
It's Monday. Happy working :) The first day after a long break of Chinese New Year..

For past few weeks, I've been looking for a birthday present.. maybe perfume, shirt or anything that money can buy. However, it was useless..I can't afford anything that sounds meaningful-affordable-yet-look-expensive things..

Thus, with empty pocket and tons of times I have, handmade gift would be the only amazing option left.

Presenting... *drum rolls*

Mason Jar Memories
Rate of difficulty is 2/5.

The hardest part was to do the drawing. Although you don't need impeccable drawing skills, I find that tracing (yes, traced) is quite hard. Well, I mean to get it looks as close as original picture.

Skip it and use photos if you want.

Here are the steps:

Tadaa..

and pack away..

p/s:
Besides tracing photos on window panel, I just trace photos from laptop instead.
Add transparency sheet behind the paper, to ensure it fixed in place and as a protector I suppose.

10 Surprising Ideas to Make Life Easier : Home

Assalammualaikum and hello!

My first intention in starting this blog was to be informational as I could and share it to the whole world. As far as I know, I am not really close to that intention. Am I? hehehe... So, this is my first entry to share some tips I've stumbled upon.

This time, it is about home, from organizing, cleaning, decorating and of course, making life easier . So here are the top 10 surprising ideas for your home.

Cord Lables
Start to keep your bread bag clips and use them to label the look alike power cords. Should be less problem figuring out which power cord you want to turn off.

Scheduling Assistant
This is way too cute. Seeing is always believing, right? Using clothes pins represent each day, clip any to-do index card for the day. It is green, reusable and save a lot of times.

Light Embellishment
Bright up some of your old boring Raya festive lights with this idea. All you need is strand of lights and cupcake liners.

Bamboo Organizer
Why I didn't think of this before, bamboo steamer could be a cute organizer. I really love this! It is simple yet speaks out ingenious! *Runs searching for one*

Wrappers Storage
Architecture students: no more reasons for untidy room okay. There's always a space for those scattered drawings..or even models, model boards..anything wire could endure.

Cleaning Ceiling Fan
Trouble cleaning those dusty ceiling fan? No more worries. Cover a fan blade with an old pillowcase and pull it over to wipe.No more dust scattered all over the floor.

Ribbon Dispenser
via: realsimple.com
Works as ribbon dispenser and keeps all ribbon in place.  Again students, might as well works with masking tape, cellophane tape,  duct tape...no excuse for missing tape again.

Matching Sheets
Just tuck the sheet set inside its pillowcase and cut off time to hunt for lost matching pair. Plus, it is nicer to be seen, it looks like a cute small pillow.

To-do List Board
via: realsimple.com
Instead buying boring blank whiteboard, opt for this stylish picture frame as dry-erase board. Frame any amazing pattern fabric or paper (I'm thinking of doily), you can write your to-do list on the glass. Make sure  you write with non-permanent marker.

Mason Jars Storage
I love mason jars and I love how easily we can see things inside them. Just put all teeny weeny items inside the jars and you'll be clutter-free, as easy as that.

Brush Hook
Well, is it 10 already?...Oh.. I really need to include this Brush Hook. Always, after hardly trying to soften stiff brushes, I just throw them away. Now, see what an amazing thing they could turn to. Enough said.

Have a happy Thursday..Long weekend awaits..

When I was a kid : I already in love with Ryan Gosling!

Assalammualaikum and hello beautiful Monday!

First of all, have you watched Crazy, Stupid, Love? You should have seen it..  with charming Ryan Gosling, 4/5 from me..

I love how the plot moves from one to one and absolutely the surprise at the end of the movie. It's really a new breath for romantic-comedy-drama genre. The connection between all characters are very interesting and creatively done! Plus, the on-screen chemistry between Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling is one of the best I've seen so far.

"Seriously!? It's like you're photoshopped" (referring to Ryan's abs) -- my most memorable quote from the movie...hehehe... It's really funny how the modern-day jokes being use in the movie. Like Hannah (Emma Stone) explaining herself, "I am sexy. I am R-rated sexy".. Just made me laugh and thinking mine would be at what rate.. Maybe still a G or PG.. not even PG-13! hehe..

Okay..my actual point here is, I never ever thought before young hercules could grown up to be...this hot! Oh my..

Back then, this young hercules was my hero. Waited in front of the TV, 10 pm every Tuesday (err..or Monday) for this show. Oh my.. not to forget, dreaming of having a young hercules as a boyfriend.. In those days his hair was the coolest hairstyle ever, right? hehe..

What's more, I do find his sense of fashion is flawless..

be sure to watch his others 2011 movies.. from intelligent but naive Stephens Meyers to seriously skilled and full of emotion driver in drive you can judge how amazing his acting performance.

Day 7 - Urban legends

Assalammualaikum and hi all!

It's Friday 13th! Woo...
My first thought is always..

Oh my! The creepy murder going to kill everyone on Friday 13th!

Friday 13th occurs at least once and mostly 3 times in year (Oh God, there will be more slashing to happen..kidding!) It is just a superstition that day to be unlucky.. I haven't encountered any on that day, or yet, today. If it happen, it will be just coincidence (optimist! hehe..)

So, I was wondering how paranoid we are in these days and age. Maybe the Friday 13th was invented just for fun, to scare kid. Maybe it's just like our Malay superstition, 'Do not go out during Maghrib (dusk), or else momok (ghost) going to catch and hide you' I do believe in some superstition and I can be sure, I am a total paranoid freak.

Picture these,
  • Taking shower whenever there's no one else home and thinking someone with knife is coming to stab you.
  • Waking up at 4 am in the morning, and thinking someone going to break in and thinking what you should do.
  • Prefer to walk into kitchen for a drink in the dark as you wouldn't want to see something horrifying if you switch the lights on.

I was a brave kid back then. Horror film? meh..Child's Play was my favourite movie and I watched it with my eyes wide open!

Ok..The poster just scared the crap out of me.. What happen to me nowadays?

Picture these,

Alone, still struggling to finish some works while others sleep soundly, I heard an aerosol spray can fall. One that I left outside early that evening.. Ahh..cats! Next thing in the morning, my friend's phone was missing! Who did that? The one that tumble down the aerosol spray can! The robber (s) could have been inside our home, took the phone, saw me still awake and ran away!. Something could happen to me!

Once, at midnight, at my friend's house, I was going to bed and somehow I felt like to close the window blinds. While I do that, I was staring blankly to the backyard which is adjacent to a neighbour house. All I can see was darkness. Nothing. Next thing in the morning, my friend told me that the neighbour house (the one that I looked at last night) was robbed! and footprints found in my friends backyard and it happened at the midnight! Gosh..I could have seen the culprit crossing the backyard! I was so scared.. Something worse could happen to me! I can't even imagine it.

Yes, true story.

I'm still paranoid. Scelerophobia. Fear of burglars.

Hope you guys have a nice weekend!

Recipe : Butter Prawn

I couldn't explain in words how delicious this sinful dish when I tasted it for the very first time. Sure it is high in cholesterol, but once a month should be okay..(wide smile) Big hugs and kisses to Afiqah Hassan's mom for cooking me this. Right from that moment, I have to know how it cook!

So, again.. I love to cook dishes that are not so fussy. No measurement, no timbang-timbang...just cook with your heart.I know its sound cliche, but I swear its true..

Lets cook up a storm!

What you need:

  • 1/2 kg medium prawns (about 15-20 prawns, cleaned and only tail intact )
  • 1 tablespoon frying oil (to avoid butter from burn)
  • 5 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoon evaporated milk
  • 4-5 cili padi (depends how spicy you want, slice them thinly)
  • 2 strands curry leaves
  • 1 eggs (beaten lightly)

What you have to do:

  1. First, to prepare the egg floss (one on top), stir frying oil and pour in beaten egg and continue stir to get fine floss. Then keep aside.
  2. Now for the main dish, heat the frying oil and put in butter. Let it melt.
  3. When it starts bubbling, put in the cili padi and curry leaves.
  4. After a while, put in he prawns. Let them cook.
  5. Lastly, put in the evaporated milk and egg floss. Stir well.
  6. Make sure the prawns well-cooked and it ready to be served!

p/s: add extra butter or milk if you want extra gravy.

Resolutions anyone? Let's start from small things..

Assalammualaikum..and happy thursday!

For past few days, I've seen a lot of new year's resolutions posted on facebook, blogs as well as meme site.. :p So, I lookup what exactly the resolution means..

Some mentions that : 'I have a resolution not to have any resolution this year' or 'I don't need resolution as new year just the same as a new day for me'.. I was thinking the same.. 'Naaahh.. I'm sure I will not resolve any of these..no need to them list out'..

Well, I was wrong. I was afraid.

In Islam, we are taught to improved ourselves. As 'berusaha, doa and tawakkal '. We are encourage to be a better person, not only spiritually but also in all other aspects. Most of us got it wrong about Islam only covers spiritual aspect. Islam is complete way of life and Al -Quran as the guidance.

As stated in the Quran,

I believe that, everything starts with simple small steps. Too small that we've might ignored them.

As posted by Farah Ilyana on her facebook, quote from Aishah Amin,

Really got me thinking about it again and again. :D

So here I got are mine written out to be remembered:

  1. Reciting 'Bismillah' in everything I do.
  2. Practice sunnah and hadith as much as I can in everyday life
  3. Stay out from any negative influence (debate, arguments, media, anything melalaikan)
  4. Forgive everyone and ask for Allah forgiveness
  5. Lastly, respect others

See you! Hope 2012 will be blissful for all of you!

p/s: I love her (Aisha Amin) for a lot of reason, plus she is in architecture too
